Some time went by and I was shocked at how fast it all seemed to happen. A baby would pop out and when I was almost finished cleaning it out would come another! Pupcake had no clue what to do with baby No. 1 so I am glad I was by her side to help her break the sack, suction the nose and mouth and get the baby going. With baby No. 2 & 3 it was pretty much the same, by the time baby No. 4 came she knew what to do but I was a little anxious so I helped her just a tad.
Finally at 7:22 pm out came baby No. 7! Another girl weighing in at 7.4 oz. I was thinking there might be only 6 since the others came in a timely manner. My sister and I had already cleaned up a majority of the mess and put the supplies away. I think Pupcake was also surprised at No. 7 because she just looked at the baby in the sack when it popped out. It took a couple seconds but she did all the work and I pitched in to help her get the sack off the puppies head, tie off the umbilical cord and cut it. So we had 7 after all! All were in the perfect position and the delivery went smooth. It was exciting, amazing, tiring, so many emotions, but in the end it was totally worth it. I sleep right next to them every night and have not left their side unless I have a responsible adult to watch over them. Things couldn't be better right now in a house full of 7 itty bitty puppies. If this ever happens again it will not be on travertine floors! My knee's ached all 4 hours that I slept that night. Pupcake has lost her girlish figure but gained 7 bundles of joy she loves dearly. She watches over them carefully. It is so amazing to see nature at work.
What a great mama bear you are? I'm so happy that I was there to lend a hand. It was such a magical, and rewarding experience, that I never imagined myself being apart of. I am fortunate that I get to share in your joy as they grow and develop their own unique personalities. XO
